Senior Sous Chef

Our venue produces all food in-house, offering a range of homemade cakes, delicious salads, sandwiches & wraps, seasonal soups & hot boxes, and cold-pressed juices.

We are seeking a Senior Sous Chef that has experience within a successful casual F&B & events business.

You will support our Head Chef in overseeing all culinary operations within the Ministry and consistently delivering on the overall food vision.

You will be involved in crafting imaginative dishes, canapes, bowl food and bringing fresh, exciting techniques to the table.

You will have motivation, energy and attention to detail at the forefront of everything you do.

You will constantly demand an organised, impeccably clean and well-presented environment from your team.

You will partner with our front-of-house team to ensure our F&B offering is coherent and creative.

You will work with our team, our suppliers, and our members to ensure that the Deli, meeting rooms and events experience is so good that our members will never question getting their coffee, lunch and snacks from anywhere else.

You will understand the responsibilities around kitchen management including food safety stock management, product consistency and quality control and will have the energy to drive continuous improvement among the culinary team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to grow professionally and personally, shaping the future of F&B at the Ministry – the best workspace in the world.

A capacity for hard work, a natural ability to get on with people, a passion for excellent food and coffee and a sense of humour are a must.

ABOUT US

Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London. It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box.

We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company, now with Sony, and stage giant dance events, including one for over 50,000 people at the O2 during the millennium.

We were pioneers in electronic music and still have a history of taking risks, innovation, and colourful and creative marketing.

Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member’s club, in a 50,000 sq. ft Victorian warehouse in SE1.

The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise – everything you wouldn’t expect to find in a standard office.

There’s great home-cooked F&B, a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio with daily classes, together with a cultural and business events programme.

As a business, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, like to laugh and have fun, but we have high standards, relentless attention to detail and the continuous improvement of our product, and we work hard as a team.

We hate cliché, doing things the way others do and continuously seek to differentiate our brands and products almost as a point of pride.
