Elephant & Castle Access Guide

Ministry Venues is dedicated to being inclusive and accessible. This guide provides an overview of our facilities with regard to accessibility. If this doesn’t fully answer your questions, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of our team using the contact details below.

3. Venue Description
Ministry Venues - Elephant & Castle is a multi-room Events space situated across the ground and first floor. The ground floor is fully accessible with step-free access from the entrance to all the following areas;
• The Courtyard
• The Cloakroom
• The 103
• The Box
• The Baby Box
• Male and Female toilets, both of which have accessible toilets (Please see section 6).
Our first floor consists of the aerial walkway above The 103, The Loft and The Lounge which are currently only accessible by a set of stairs.
4. Travelling To And From Our Venue
Our venue, located around the corner from the Elephant and Castle roundabout junction has multiple public transport links close by, including numerous bus routes, Elephant and Castle tube station and Borough tube station.
We recommend using TFL Journey Planner when coming to and from the venue using public transport. For further information, please visit: https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/
For licensed taxis and Ubers, our drop-off point is located directly on Gaunt St, less than 10 meters from the entrance of the venue; which is also step-free from point of drop-off to the venue entrance.
Whilst we do not have dedicated parking for the venue, there are multiple street parking locations within 100 meters of the venue including blue badge holder parking; directly opposite the venue on Gaunt Street.
5. On Arrival
On arrival, you will be greeted by our door hosts who will assist you with any requirements.
6. Toilets
Both our male and female toilets located on the ground floor, located on either side of The 103, have accessible toilets situated towards the back of the cubicle section.
These are unlocked via the use of a RADAR key which you are welcome to use your own key with. Please ask any member of staff if you require assistance.
7. Additional Access

• If you require captioned or signed facilities.
• If you have a vision impairment and require assistance.
• If you require any large print materials.
• If you need early access as a wheelchair user.
8. Assistant Dogs
We allow both assistance and guide dogs at our events. Please email us in advance of the event you wish to attend so we can discuss the procedure and answer any of your questions.
9. Special Effects
We occasionally use a variety of special effects during performances and events, including but not limited to: strobe lighting, lasers, confetti blasts and smoke machines. If you are concerned about any element of special effects, please contact the venue at events@ministryvenues.com.
10. Attitude is Everything
We have partnered with Attitude is Everything to improve Deaf and disabled people’s access to our events. We routinely provide disability awareness training to all of our team members to ensure they are fully aware of our policies and procedures in and around the venue in relation to everything in this guide.
All of our team are here to help, whether it be security, bartenders, welfare officers, medics or management. If you have any questions or concerns; please make yourself known to your nearest member of the team and they will get you the assistance you need.

3. VENUE DESCRIPTION
Ministry Venues - Borough is a multipurpose venue spread over 6 floors. The floors feature the following
Floor 4: Workspace
Floor 3: Workspace
Floor 2: Workspace
Floor 1: Workspace and Meeting Room Hire
Ground Floor: Event Space Hire, Deli, Bar, Meeting Rooms and Outdoor Space
Basement: Studio Hire, Toilets, Gym, Fitness Studio, Showers & Bike Store
Whilst there are lifts to all floors of the venue and step-free access across each floor, the outdoor spaces located on the ground floor are not accessible via step-free access.
Events within The White Space may at times (depending on the entrance requested for use by the client) not have step-free access at the dedicated entrance. However, there will always be step-free access available within the
venue.
4. TRAVEL
Tube: The venue is located between Elephant & Castle station and Borough tube stations, both of which have limited step-free access - please see London Underground accessibility information for further guidance.
Bus: There are a number of bus routes serving the local area surrounding the venue. To plan the easiest way to access the venue we recommend the TFL website.
Taxis: For licensed taxis and Ubers, our drop-off point is located directly on Borough Road, less than 10 meters from the entrance of the venue.
Parking: Whilst we do not have dedicated parking at the venue, there is on-street parking directly outside the venue. The council have not allocated any of these spaces directly for blue badge holders.
5. ASSISTANCE
The venue has a staffed reception 24 hours a day located in the centre of the building. If events are using any other entrance within the building, there will always be a member of staff on hand to assist with any requirements that you may have.
6. TOILETS
Every floor of the building has an accessible toilet that is available without the use of a radar key. All toilets are fitted with emergency call equipment.
7 DOGS
The venue is fully dog friendly and we have full refreshment facilities on site if required.
8. EFFECTS
We do not use smoke, lasers, strobes or similar effects within the building. If an event has supplied these for use within the building it will be cleared stipulated at the registration point.
9. ADDITIONAL
The venue does not feature any hearing loops or similar technology. if you require any of the following, please contact us in advance of the event so we can confirm if we are able to arrange any further assistance.

10. EMERGENCIES
In the unlikely event of an emergency, there are emergency refuge points with full call access located on every floor of the building.
Lifts: Please do not attempt to use the lifts within the building in the event of an emergency.
Beacons: All our fire alarms are fitted with beacons for anyone with hearing difficulties.
11. OVERVIEW
Lifts: Our venue is equipped with lifts to ensure that individuals with mobility disabilities can easily access all floors of the building. We maintain our lifts to ensure they are in proper working condition, and we have procedures in place to address any malfunctions or breakdowns.
Parking: We have parking spaces located close to our building entrance. These spaces are directly outside the venue and are chargeable through the council pay pay-by-phone.
Entrance: Our main entrance is accessible, clearly marked and easily identifiable. The entrances have minimal stairs and an accessible lift for individuals with mobility issues.
Toilets: Our venue has accessible toilets that are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. These restrooms are clearly marked and located on all floors of the building.
Service Animals: We welcome service animals at our venue and provide access to water and relief areas if needed.
Assistance: Our staff are trained to provide assistance to individuals with disabilities who may require it. If you need assistance, please ask a staff member, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
